Even if you have nothing to do with web design/development, SEO, and digital marketing, chances are you run a business, and good advice from years of experience is always valuable.
If you know me in person, you know that I am always learning and evolving. You know that I am in my third career—after hospitality and language services, I am now in web design and marketing. I attend several webinars and online courses per week and receive tons of newsletters daily to stay at the top of my game. I mainly opt in for newsletters about web design/development, SEO, social media marketing, AI, WaaS, SaaS, and WordPress plugins.
Are all newsletters useful or fun to read? Definitely not, but there are a couple I am really looking forward to receiving every week.
The WP Minute
"The WP Minute" by Matt Medeiros on Mondays. I especially love The WP Minute's Agency Action podcast with Kurt von Ahnen and Toby Cryns, who discuss several business aspects of running an agency. They talk about organization, outsourcing, management, pricing, and marketing. Even if you are not working as a WordPress agency, you will find useful information that will improve the way you run your business. Check out their latest YouTube video on "How Pricing Impacts Client Expectations and Scope Creep" to see for yourself.
The Friday Chaser
"The Friday Chaser" by Kyle Van Deusen—you guessed it!—on Fridays. Kyle writes in a very approachable and warm way, addressing the same issues WordPress agencies struggle to cope with as the guys above, which are not challenges only businesses in web design/development face but challenges most small businesses or solopreneurs face. Furthermore, he provides food for thought, excerpts from "The Admin Bar" Facebook Group, and a list of the latest blog articles on "The Admin Bar" website. Check out "The Admin Bar" yourself to see that there is a ton of information, resources, and love!
Foy’s Friday Five
Last but not least, Dave Foy's almost-regular "Foy’s Friday Five", packed with useful information for web designers/developers, especially those working with Bricks. His newsletters are concise, to the point, warm, and written with British humor. Dave's newsletter is more for WordPress developers/designers and less about the business aspects, but Dave provides insights about the industry, new tools, and useful info. Check it out!
